Celebrating the legacy of Dr. King

Had a wonderful time celebrating the legacy of Dr. King with the Metro Ministers' Conference of VA at The Historic First Baptist Church Bute Street in Norfolk and with the S. Delois Mayes Scholarship Foundation in Suffolk, and putting service into action with the Village Family food and clothing pantry this week.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not just with words, but with action.

Dr. King reminded us that “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” MLK Day is a call to roll up our sleeves—to show up for our neighbors, strengthen our communities, and put service above self.

As a doctor, a lawyer, and a candidate for Congress, I believe leadership begins with service: caring for patients, standing up for working families, and fighting for dignity and opportunity for everyone. That spirit of service is what drives this campaign—and what will continue to guide my work every day.

Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy by building a more just, compassionate, and inclusive future together. 💙
